As much as we all want to spoil our Dad’s aren’t they just so difficult to buy for??? If he’s anything like my Dad he just doesn’t know what he would like, or he doesn’t want anything in particular. So, between us in the office, we have come up with the best places to go for good grub and a pint – where can you go wrong really!!
If your Dad is a steak kind of guy then The Kookaba is definitely the place to go. It serves up a little bit of Australia in the heart of the pretty village of Saundersfoot. The restaurant has a brilliantly calm and friendly atmosphere and best of all the tucker is brill!! As well as steaks, burgers and pizza The Kookaba likes to mix things up a little by serving native kangaroo and ostrich, which is VERY popular and tasty!! The portions here are pretty large so it is definitely not for the feint hearted!! As well as serving all the usual beers The Kookaba has some really delicious Australian beer on tap that obviously has to go with a big juicy steak!!
As Father’s day is on a Sunday, a lot of people will be looking for the best place for a really yummy Sunday lunch. Well, Ye Olde Inn at Camrose, always serves a really delicious roast dinner, which we think is the closest to a homemade one as you can get!! Not only is the food really good, they also have a range of real ales that go perfectly with the food and a bit of sunshine (hopefully!!).
For those Dads who would prefer maybe something less meat orientated The Ferry House Inn, Neyland can provide just this. It is set in the heart of Pembrokeshire overlooking the beautiful Cleddau Estuary and has been run by the same family for over 40 years. They serve some delicious home cooked food using local produce whenever they can. Their fresh fish and seafood is something that people from all over come to eat. Again, it is sourced locally so the menu changes daily with what is available from the local waters!! They also serve a range of lovely real ales along with local beers which I’m sure would just round off the day perfectly with the panoramic views of the waterway from the lounge, dining room or (if the weather is right!!) the beer garden.
So that has sorted the evening or even lunch time, so what about the rest of the day….. How about some family time and booking something to do? Fancy an action packed day at Heatherton which caters for all the family? For smaller children there is Indiana’s indoor adventure play and even driving school!! Then for older children and adults there is paintballing, Tree tops (really sorts the men from the boys!) go carting, walking on water and even the new activity of body zorbing!! The centre works with a credit system and you only pay for what you play on!! Why not give us a call and book your activities or credits today to start Fathers Day with a bang before settling down in the evening to some well earned food!!
